In conjunction with Catawba Valley Youth Baseball Association, ACAP, and Crystal Carolina Sports, Pepsi of Hickory is proud to offer kids the opportunity to participate in the Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR). The skills competition of Major League Baseball, PHR is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the fun element of baseball. PHR participants can advance through Local and Sectional competitions, Team Championship events at all 30 Major League ballparks, and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.

Boys and Girls ages 7 to 14 can showcase pitching, hitting and running abilities in an exciting skills competition:

The Pitch - try to throw strikes by taking a shot at hitting the MLB strike zone.
The Hit - swing away like big leaguers and be judged on distance and accuracy.
The Run - test your speed on the bases from second base to home plate.

PHR participation is free of charge and is open to any child ages 7 to 14 that has not participated in a previous 2009 PHR. Additional details will be posted in late February as packets are received.

June 26-28, 2009   Ages 8-18U

Crystal Carolina Sports and Pepsi are excited to establish the Pepsi Mid-Atlantic Challenge at Catawba Meadows Park in Morganton, NC to provide developing teams an opportunity to compete in a championship event played on some of the Mid-Atlantic's premier fields to create an unforgetable baseball experience.

The Pepsi Challenge is an open tournament for Select and Elite teams with .500 or under records as of June 14, 2009. Teams will enter as Select or Elite and winners will be crowned in the Select and Elite divisions for each age group. A Challenge that prepares teams for future growth and competitive development.

July 11-12, 2009   Ages 8-18U

The first Platinum and Gold Championship was held in 2008 and 60+ teams from 4 states participated in the tournament. In 2009 Mountain Dew Code Red has signed on as a sponsor of this special tournament.

The Mountain Dew Code Red Platinum and Gold Championships is an open tournament for all Select, Elite, and Premier teams. Teams are placed in the Platinum Championship (record over .500) or Gold Championship (record .500 or under) for each division and age group.

Oct 31 - Nov 1, 2009   Ages 8-18U

The inaugural Pepsi Haunted Halloween Championship will bring together great baseball with a fun and exciting day of Halloween festivities, including the only Haunted Greenway experience in the nation. The last weekend in October is typically peak season for leaf colors in the area, in the floor of the Linville Gorge (including Linville Falls) and at local apple orchards. The tournament is a National Championship Invitational for Select, Elite, and Premier teams.
